I’ve become more and more interested in the details; the precious metal ornaments and trinkets that I previously forwent when donning an outfit, but now spend an equal amount of time deciding which earrings to wear as I do with clothing. Jewellery is something that I’ve always been indifferent towards and worn sporadically throughout my teens and early twenties. As you might have noticed, I’ve been coveting some amazing jewellery brands of late, which has lead me to exploring my new found love for bijouterie. South Africa continues to amaze me with it’s sheer wealth of talented creatives and artisans, and I’m super excited to introduce to you another brilliant local brand, Steffany Roup Jewellery.
Steffany Roup Jewellery is the namesake jewellery design and manufacturing studio founded by designer Steffany Roup. Based in Cape Town, Steffany creates unique and striking pieces using brass, precious metals, and gems, designing everything herself with the help of her all-female staff. Drawing inspiration from her surroundings and emotions, Steffany creates collections that can be described as nostalgic and modern simultaneously. ”I am often inspired by what surrounds me, my friends, the environment, places I go, the way things make me feel, and how I would like the wearer to feel.”
Something noteworthy and commendable is her commitment to ensuring that her work has as low impact on our environment as possible. She tries to source her materials as ethically as possible, and recycles as much precious and non-precious metal cuts and filings as she can.
With the much anticipated launch of her new online store that took place at the end of last month, I decided to put together two looks featuring two of her beautiful earrings. Take a look and visit her website at www.steffanyroup.com to get your own pairs!
